DUBAI - AMSI Voices – a networking platform founded by Academia Management Solutions International (AMSI) and led by its distinguished alumni – recently organized workshops to help students interact with industry experts and make informed higher studies and career choices. The gathering was the first of a series of events, titled ‘Monday 101s’, under which a Monday is dedicated towards facilitating interaction between students of Grade 11 & 12 and working professionals who are AMSI alumni. The initiative is also in line with the vision of the country’s leadership to groom the youth to become happy, inspired and confident members of society.

During the course of the event, students were introduced to a range of vocations and given an opportunity to learn about industry-relevant skills. The first daylong ‘Monday 101s’ event was held at the International School of Arts and Sciences (ISAS), and had seven workshops which dealt with managing personal finance, honing Arabic writing skills, career options in law, event management, handling audio-visual equipment and technology and tips on making a career out of passion for make-up and fashion.

Speaking on the sidelines of the event, Ms. Alissar Nasr, Chief Academic Officer, AMSI and herself an alumnus - Class of 1984, said: “I am proud to be in a position where I can call on our esteemed alumni to support this country’s vision in engaging with the youth. It gives me great pleasure to see them excitedly deliver the workshops and participate in these initiatives. Acknowledging that sense of responsibility and giving back to their school and student community is what we are all about here at AMSI.”

Dino Drimakis, Business Development Manager at NMK Electronics Enterprises; AMSI Alumnus Class of 2005, said: “Interacting with students of AMSI schools was a great experience.  We explored the 21st Century skills that they must learn at an early age, discussed industry trends and spoke about the career opportunities available to them. Most students are overwhelmed with what they would like to pursue as careers. ‘Monday 101’s’ gives them the chance to gain an understanding of what the field they are interested in really entails and hopefully will help them in making more informative decisions about their future. I am a proud AMSI alumnus and I feel privileged to be part of this great initiative which allows me to give back to our youth.”

The subsequent ‘Monday 101s’ workshops will be held on April 3rd, 2017 at Al Mawakeb Schools-Al Barsha and on May 8th, 2017 in Al Mawakeb Schools-Al Garhoud.

AMSI Voices is a networking platform introduced by Academia Management Solutions International in 2015 to inspire and empower their graduating youth to prepare for life after school through an annual gathering with the schools’ Alumni from Al Mawakeb Schools and ISAS. Each year the platform will introduce a new theme to discuss and explore through panel discussions and mini-workshop sessions. The one-day event will provide the schools’ emerging youth a safe platform to voice their concerns about various career path and educational decisions. The aim of the platform is to give back, inspire, make a difference and touch the lives of our students at Al Mawakeb & ISAS.
