AMMAN – HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, founder and chairman of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Global (TAG.Global), participated in the opening ceremony of the English Language Olympia (ELO) 2019, organized and hosted by the Applied Science University (ASU).

The ELO is the first of its kind initiative on the educational world map that aims at integrating different cultures in one educational vision based in Jordan.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh welcomed Dr. Mohammad Al Zboun, representative of the Minister of Education and Higher Education, Dr. Mahfouz Joudeh, ASU President, Dr. Majed Hamad, the Olympia General Manager, and HE Karen Sasahara, representative of the American Embassy in Amman.

During the ceremony, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh underlined the importance of the English language as the world's first language since it is the language of the Internet and knowledge.

Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh also praised the positive impact of the ELO theme in its 4th year entitled “Clean Energy” affirming the need to involve the youth in energy and technology issues due to the rapid developments and advancements in this field.

Moreover, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh stressed that Artificial Intelligence (AI) is the only solution to save human life, pointing out this is subject to the approval of the United States and China to establish an AI team of experts to devise solutions for toxic emissions and toxicity reduction as an extra path for alternative ways and means to alleviate such deadly emissions, adding that this is purely a technical process given that there are 8000 AI scientists in the US and 6000 in China.

Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh referred to a report published in the Arab media outlets stating that, according to the US Congress, the world is heading for a catastrophe in just 12 years due to global warming, noting that the world's biggest industries oppose measures to reduce heat emissions.

However, he said that the radical solution for combatting these harmful emissions without affecting industries is through the use of  Artificial Intelligence to find a solution for climate change that is threatening the future of mankind.

Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh called on all Arab youth to follow suit of American youth by reading about and studying the global warming issue and organizing awareness campaigns on threats of global warming worldwide.

For his part, Dr. Al Zboun, expressed the honor of Jordan and the Ministry of Education and Higher Education for this initiative that is based in the Kingdom, underlining the importance of acquiring English language skills, communication skills as well as scientific research methods by all students which are a prerequisite in the labor market regionally and globally.

Meanwhile, Dr. Hamad, Manager of ELO, said that more than nine Arab and foreign countries participated in this year’s ELO from different educational institutions for students aged (11-17) years, noting that the main goal of the Olympia is to integrate different cultures into one educational vision to consolidate commonalities and break down traditional stereotypes and determinants.
