Arab Education Summit Rescheduled due to Obama Middle East Visit

14-Mar-2013

Special to TAG Educa News Agency

AMMAN - The Arab Education Summit in Amman, Jordan has been rescheduled to May 6-8, 2013 as the originally dates of March 24-26 have coincided with the confirmed trip to the Middle East of the US President Barak Obama.

The President’s itinerary remains confidential for the moment, but it is believed the program will include a stay in Amman after visiting Jerusalem and Ramallah. Although his stay may only be for one or two nights it is the huge contingent of security and diplomatic officials prior to and after the President's departure that has had a considerable effect on the Summit’s arrangements.

Accordingly, the Jordanian Minister of Education, Prof. Wajih Owais has agreed that the best option is to reschedule the Summit.  This will ensure the full and undivided attention of the Government of Jordan, the Ministries of Education, Higher Education and ICT, together with a number of government agencies.  Also attending are institutes under the umbrella of Queen Rania, who is responsible for education, including the Jordan Education Initiative, the Queen Rania Teacher Academy and various other foundations.

The Summit is now fully confirmed to take place in Amman during the May 6-8 and once again has the full patronage of the Jordanian Ministry of Education.

The Arab Education Summit is a landmark event gathering captains of industry and government leaders to ensure the world-class delivery of education, science and technology across the Middle East and North Africa.

The Summit’s organisation by ArabBrains brings together the international expertise of The Brains Network with an outstanding track record in Africa and the Middle East, notably the recent Innovation Africa Summit which took place in Cape Town.

Assisting with the preparations as “Organising Partner” is Jordan based Integrated Technology Group – a dynamic, innovative, and technology driven group of companies that specialize in providing IT solutions for the education and public sectors.

The Summit is already attracting an array of big name ICT and education tech sponsors namely Oracle, HP, Epson, JP – Inspiring Knowledge, Elsevier, and IBM.

“It’s an excellent opportunity to meet all the stakeholders for the education market… I haven’t been to many conferences that are so well organised in terms of networking. I would certainly come again and recommend this conference to anybody else who is working in the education field.”

Martin Rist – Education Business Manager, Middle East & Africa, HP

It will be a highly productive and enjoyable event centred around pre-scheduled one-to-one meetings between companies, government ministries, educational institutions and civil society.
