Jordan Minister of Higher Education: 45 Thousand Arab Students in Jordanian Universities

AMMAN - The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Amin Mahmoud said a new plan has been followed by the Ministry to expand technical education in collaboration with a number of universities and institutes in China, in addition to expanding the integration of students from different provinces in each university in order to exchange experiences and alleviate university violence, according to University of Jordan (UJ) press release.

This came during a meeting with the students of the University of Jordan in Aqaba, in the presence of Governor of Aqaba, Fawaz Irsheidat, a number of MPs representing Aqaba and Vice-President of the branch, Dr. Ahmad Abu Hilal.

Mahmoud said he came to spot the branch’s academic progress, meet with students, and listen to concerns and problems faced by the branch and work to resolve them within the available means.

The Minister listened to a number of issues raised by the MPs focused on the need to review the multiplicity of universities and disciplines in the provinces all the way to redirecting investment in higher education to ensure the achievement of the objectives of the university in harmony with the vision of Aqaba.

Moreover, the Minister said 45 thousand Arab students are studying at the Jordanian universities, which support the national income, pointing to contacts with representatives of several Arab countries in order to increase the number of students studying in Jordan, due to Jordan’s good reputation with regards to education.

The Vice-President of the University of Jordan in Aqaba, Prof. Ahmad Abu Hilal, displayed the achievements of UJ-Aqaba despite its recent inception, referring to financial challenges faced by UJ and the branch’s needs for more spending on development projects.
