"Al-Quds," a New Subject to be Taught at University of Jordan

AMMAN - Council of Deans of the University of Jordan (UJ) has decided in its meeting to approve adding a new course on Jerusalem “Al-Quds” to UJ’s curriculum, according to University press release.

This came in line with the historical role of the Hashemite family in the preservation and maintenance of the holy sites in Jerusalem since the dawn of prophecy.

This also came in Consistent with the historic role of Jordan ever since the reign of King Abdullah I, and the late King Al-Hussein Bin Talal, down to His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein in defending the Arab identity of Jerusalem, and the maintenance of its sanctities as well as supporting the resilience and steadfastness of its people.

Also, this decision comes to consolidate Jordan’s vision in maintaining the city of Jerusalem in the conscience of the nation, confront Judaization policies and maintain the city as a destination for pilgrimages and believers.

In addition, it stems from UJ’s belief in the distinctive historic role of His Majesty the King and the Jordanian state in the defense of Jerusalem and the conservation of the Arab identity and sanctities of the holy city.

Moreover, it takes into account the agreement signed between His Majesty the King and Palestinian President on His Majesty's personal role in protecting Jerusalem and preserving its holy sites.

Furthermore this decision stems from UJ’s mission and its role in the service of the nation and the preparation of future generations to defend the sanctities of the nation and preserve its heritage and culture and maintain its future and the future of the upcoming generations.
