TAG-Confucius and Chinese Embassy Concludes the 7th “Great Wall” Language Competition

AMMAN - Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Confucius Institute (TAG-Confucius), the official testing center for China's HSK examinations (Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi) in cooperation with the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Jordan, concluded the 7th “Great Wall” language competition.

The competition was held in the presence of the Chinese Ambassador HE Mr. Pan Weifang, the Embassy’s Cultural Advisor Mr. Yang Rong Hao, the President of University of Jordan Dr. Azmi Mahafzah; University of Jordan’s Head of the Asian Department Dr. Ahmed Afifi, and Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages Mr. Adnan Smadi; TAG-Confucius Dean Ms. Yang Song Fan, and TAG-Confucius Manager Mr. Araz Mahserejian, and the administrative body and faculty of the Institute.

Mr. Mahserejian indicated, “The competition is organized in conjunction with the competition held by the Confucius Institute of China and is held for university students and students of TAG-Confucius and includes exams in pronunciation, reading and conversation.”

Twenty students, of both genders, from several universities participated in the competition, including the University of Jordan, Yarmouk University and the Confucius Institute – Philadelphia University, in addition to participants from the TAG-Confucius Institute.

Student Dana Abu Haltam from TAG-Confucius Institute qualified among the top ten contenders for the final phase. 

TAG-Confucius Institute is witnessing a growing demand from businessmen, young students from schools and university to learn the Chinese language, where the Institute’s staff are keen to provide all the facilities that encourage language learning through appropriate educational tools.

About the TAG-Confucius Institute 

The Institute was established in September 2008 to introduce and promote Chinese language and culture, and to achieve a better mutual understanding between the Arab and Chinese cultures. This unique initiative is based on the cooperation agreement between TAG-Org and Confucius Institute in China. The institute has been named after the great intellectual, mentor and philosopher, Confucius, of which his ideas influenced China and other regions around the world for approximately 2000 years.
