Talal Abu-Ghazaleh International University Starts Registration of Syrian Refugees for Online Academic Degrees

AMMAN – For the purpose of educationally empower Syrian refugees, Talal Abu-Ghazaleh International University (TAGI-UNI) has started registration of hundreds of Syrian students in Jordan and Lebanon including those living in refugee camps in both countries, in order for them to acquire online academic qualifications and secure their rights for education, through a grant received from the European Union.

HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, chairman of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization (TAG-Org), said, “TAGI-UNI always seeks to change the perspective on online education and stress on its positive role in paving the road towards a better future, where it helps surpass the cultural barriers and financial obstacles, and in creating new opportunities that enable people to access knowledge.”

Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh pointed out that this is an excellent opportunity for students wishing to complete their education from inside the camps, whether in Jordan or Lebanon noting that the online educational program is also beneficial to those who are living outside the camps.

According to Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh, underprivileged Jordanians can also benefit from the University's programs.

The eligibility criteria to benefit from this program include the student must have a Secondary School Certificate – (National High School Exam), be within the age range of 18 to 30, and has a good level of English language proficiency. The student must hold an identity verification in English language.

In February 2016, TAGI-UNI decided to provide a Bachelor’s degree program for Syrian refugees living in Jordan and Lebanon, through the ‘Language and Academic Skills and E-Learning Resources (LASER) project that is funded by the European Union in partnership with many organizations such as the British Council, the Open University – London, EDRAAK, and Future Learn, in addition to many international non-profit organizations.

The second phase of the program started in June to accept students for the Scholastic semester –Fall 2016 through an aggressive media campaign in camps and governorates around the Kingdom and through social networks.  

TAGI-UNI provides opportunities to obtain Bachelor and diploma programs through its partners in the following specializations: Business Administration, Economics, Information and Communications Technology, Trade and Investment Analysis, Financial Management, Tourism Management, Media and Journalism, and English language. 

TAGI-UNI provides  Internationally-accredited educational certificates, and interested individuals may acquire further information through Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization’s 85 offices located around the globe.  This will help students acquire degrees from an accredited university without the bearing the hardships of travel, getting a visa, paying living accommodation, and/or other related expenses.
