Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization Participates in the "Women and Future Making" Conference in Cairo

CAIRO - The Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization (TAG-Org) participated in the Ain Shams University Annual International Conference on "Women and their role in Shaping the Future" which was held between 2nd -4th of April in Cairo.

Represented by its media advisor Dr. Hanan Al-Sheikh, (TAG-ORG) presented a working paper at the conference entitled “Empowering Women in Jordan and the TAG-Org experience as a Model”, in which she delivered an account of Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh's vision regarding women’s  role in society, work and management.

Dr. Al-Sheikh explained Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh’s own philosophy towards empowering women, which he adheres to and fully applies in his own hiring practices at The Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization in which 55% of staff  (where female employment is applicable) are females. She went on to explain that 56 % of the students at The Talal Abu-Ghazaleh College are females including the first winner at the college. Furthermore, amongst the The Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization staff are several highly successful female senior managers in addition to the Deputy Chair of The Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization (TAG-Org), Ms. Samar AL- Labbad often referred to as the ‘Iron Lady’.

She further described Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh’s consistent reaffirmation of his support, love, zeal and respect for women, as well as his great faith in their multiple roles as mothers, sisters, daughters, partners and work colleagues who provide valuable support. She also noted Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh's belief that women needn’t be empowered by men; rather it is men who need to be empowered so as to accept the fact that women are equal to them, if not superior to them.

The Conference concluded with The Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization (TAG-Org) receiving an honor from the President of the Conference Dr. Mustafa Murtada, in recognition of its dedicated efforts in advancing and supporting the role of women as a key partner in shaping the future.

The two-day conference discussed a number of topics including: women’s role in Arab societies in the modern era, women’s role between the Arab Spring and the political future, women‘s role in the development of educational and scientific institutions, and women’s role in building community institutions. Participants in the conference represented many institutions and organizations concerned with women’s role in Egypt and in the Arab world.
