Abu-Ghazaleh Meets Researchers at UJ’s Center for Women’s Studies

AMMAN - HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh affirmed the necessity for removing obstacles hindering the participation of women and their active involvement in the labor market, as well as their right to better job opportunities.

During a meeting with a host of student researchers from the Center for Women’s Studies at the University of Jordan in the presence of University President Dr. Azmi Mahafzah, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh stressed that women play a significant role in the prosperity of societies attributed to their constant search for excellence, their dedication and endless sacrifices.

Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh urged women to adapt to the ever-changing world of knowledge, entrepreneurship and creativity in order to help shape the promising future of Jordan. He also proposed the development of a scientific study, to be conducted by Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization (TAG-Org) in cooperation with the Center’s researchers, targeting female job seekers in Jordan with special focus on their fields of expertise, ages, work environment, incentives, and financial rewards to be submitted to decision makers to improve the current status quo.

Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh briefed the students; the majority of them women, on TAG-Org’s experience in recruiting women, noting that 60% of employees at TAG-Org’s offices worldwide are women who have proven that women are no less capable than men.

He also explained the various development and expansion stages  TAG-Org has undergone throughout the years to its current status hosting a vast global network of offices offering services in various fields including education, training, consulting, ICT, Technology transfer and Intellectual property among others.

Meanwhile, Dr. Mahafzah praised the Organization’s achievements and its pioneering role in serving the Jordanian economy highlighting its outstanding record of cooperation with local communities. 

He also underlined the importance of knowledge centers established in Jordanian cities and villages by the  Organization, which are electronically connected with research centers in the Arab world and stressed  the University’s propensity to enhance scientific research cooperation with TAG-Org by signing an agreement initiating a new era of openness and communication between the two parties.

During the meeting attended by UJ Vice President for the Faculty of Humanities, Dr. Ahmad Majdoubeh and Director of the Center for Women’s Studies Dr. Abeer Dababneh, discussions took place tackling  challenges facing gender integration in the labor market, the role of women in the business sector in addition to women’s involvement in profitable small-businesses.
