QOU and Association of Arab Universities Inaugurate “Recruiting Technology” Program

RAMALLAH - The quality department at Al-Quds Open University (QOU), quality assurance council and the accreditation in the secretariat of Association of Arab Universities inaugurated a training entitled “recruiting technology in the program and institutional evaluation at higher education institutions” in Amman, Jordan. The workshop targeted the universities’ presidents, vice presidents and assistants. In addition to quality assurance staff, accreditation, planning and development at the Arab universities. The workshop was attended by 15 officials from the Arab universities, according to QOU.
The workshop aimed at introducing the audience to the role of the information technology and communications in the quality of education in general and in the evaluation processes in particular. It also aimed at training the participants on using the web application in the computerized evaluation and exchanging experiences in this field.
Prof. Samir Al-Najdi, Vice Presidents for Academic Affairs stated that this workshop is one of the long cooperation between QOU and the Association of Arab Universities. He confirmed that QOU is concerned about quality and evaluation in order to develop the academic programs and the services that the university provides. Dr. Eng. Yousef Sabbah, Vice President for Quality Affairs, said that the idea of the workshop and the cooperation with the Association of the Arab Universities started in 2013. The association was seeking to develop a quality manual and QOU participated in the process of developing all the manuals, then QOU initiated developing a manual that corresponds with the open learning system in the Arab World. The quality standards and accreditation for open learning were issued, in addition to the quality assurance manual for the academic programs in the faculties of the Arab universities. He also added that the suggested system is a web application for the different stages of the evaluation process based on the two manuals.
The workshop was attended by the main trainer Dr. Eng. Yousef Sabbah, Eng. Sonia Omar, head of the quality assurance section, Eng. Fat-h Allah Al-Jayyousi, head of the academic accreditation, and Mr. Majd Abu Joudeh, quality coordinator at the quality department. The opening was attended by Prof. Rushi Qawasmeh, QOU Amman branch director.
