Ajloun - His Excellency Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh visited Ajloun Governorate and met with the Governor HE Mr. Ali Al-Majali to discuss several projects dealing with the development of education and tourism, in the presence of the governorate deputies and a number of officials and stakeholders.

Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh stressed the importance of the development of religious tourism in Ajloun, which has historical sites as equal in importance to the Baptism Site. The area of Marilyas (Saint Elias), which is located west of Ajloun, is one of the most important areas of Christian pilgrimage. Dr. Abu Ghazaleh indicated that he will discuss with the "Papal Administration" matters related to religious tourism in Jordan.

Abu-Ghazaleh stressed the importance of involving the local community in improving tourism in Ajloun, especially the "cable car" project connecting to the Ajloun Castle, and made some suggestions for attracting tourists to Ajloun through what is known as the Old Turkish Road, instead of passing through Jerash.

The Governor of Ajloun and participants in the meeting highlighted the needs of the province and its development and tourism, as well as the most prominent projects implemented in the province during the reign of His Majesty King Abdullah II.

During his tour in the province, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh, Chairman of Ajloun Chamber of Commerce, met with former Deputy Arab Samadi and discussed the economic development plans of the governorate.
Al-Samadi explained the issues facing the commercial sector in the province including the suffering of company and business owners ranging from poor development and lack of qualified local cadres and workers, lack of investment opportunities for the province, lack of attractive investment laws and lack of encouragement for young people to set up their start-up projects.

The proposal for cooperation between Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization (TAG-Org) and Ajloun National University as a private one was discussed, with the participation of Ajloun Chamber of Commerce, to develop training courses that qualify and train youth in the field of capacity building and working in the tourism sector.

In a visit to Ajloun National University, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh met with the President of the University Professor, Dr. Mahmoud Al-Rousan, in the presence of the President of the Board of Trustees of the University, Dr. Mohammed Nur Al Smadi and a number of faculty members and University students.

Dr. Al-Rousan stressed the importance of the geographical location of the University as the only one in the province that serves the people of the region and the whole of the North, but pointed out that it suffers from lack of motivation, lack of resources, support and infrastructure, especially digital ones, which prevents it from keeping pace with the cadres of latest developments in the world of innovation and creativity.

Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh proposed designing training programs for educational staff at the University in collaboration with the University and the Group on information technology and digital knowledge.

During the visit, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh patronized the honoring ceremony of outstanding students from the "Distinguished Creativity" initiative held at the auditorium of Ajloun National University. The organizers emphasized the importance of such initiatives, which contribute to honing students’ personality and excellence in a number of fields. The ceremony was attended by Nabil Deloah, the Director of the Initiative, Sami Al-Fawa'ra, Director of Ajloun Education and Deputy Wasfi Haddad.

At the end of the ceremony, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh honored  students from the "Nashmi Al-Mutamiz" Initiative and awarded each student a TAGITOP computer.
