AMMAN – Under the patronage of HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, the National Youth Conference held a panel discussion entitled the “Royal Discussion Papers”, in cooperation with the National Forum for Awareness and Development.

The session is a follow-up of Conference’s sessions which were launched last May at the Upper House Headquarters. Students from Jordanian universities and representatives from different civil society institutions took part in the session that tackled various youth related problems and challenges in an effort to find appropriate solutions.

During the session, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh stated that the Discussion Papers of His Majesty King Abdullah II incorporate a clear vision that enables the youth to continue their role in building the country. He noted that the Papers’ comprehensive concepts lay down the foundations that lead Jordan to become a civil state, where integrity, justice, rule of law and legitimacy prevail.

Moreover, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh stressed the need to effectively develop e-government programs, rather than just flouting them for publicity purposes.

He called on the youth to embrace ICT, knowledge revolution and innovation in our ever-changing world.
In addition, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh noted that reform of higher education is not just about developing curricula and educational methods. It should, he affirmed, include as well as review mechanisms of research, scientific and technological development.

For his part, Secretary General of the Conference, Dr. Mohamad Al-Bdour remarked that “the Conference aims to involve young people in social and political development to enhance their abilities and technical knowledge in public life based on the directives of His Majesty the King.” He added that the participants in the Conference will exert all efforts to turn the Discussion Papers of HM the King into an applicable action plan for the youth.

Conference rapporteur, Mr. Ahmad Al-Jaloudi briefed the attendees on some success stories demonstrating entrepreneurship and innovation, referring to the exceptional successes achieved by Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh at the national, regional and international levels.

It is noteworthy that the National Youth Conference was launched to introduce a generation of Jordanian youth, capable of taking the initiative in decision-making and developing youth interaction tools that enhance their knowledge to achieve their effective and successful participations in public life.
