TAG-Knowledge Forum Organizes Panel on ‘Impact of Drug Abuse on Society’

AMMAN - Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Knowledge Forum (TAG-Forum) and “Absher Sayedna” initiative in collaboration with the Anti-Narcotics Department (AND) organized a panel discussion entitled “Impact of Drugs and their Negative Consequences on Society” presented by Brig. Gen. Anwar Tarawneh, AND Director under the patronage of HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh.

During the session, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh welcomed the attendees and highly praised the crucial role and efforts exerted by the Department in combatting addiction to illicit drugs and promoting awareness on its negative and devastating effects,. He also praised all the institutions that support AND’s mission topped by “Absher Sayedna” initiative.

For his part, Tarawneh underlined the continuous efforts of the Department in its war on drugs using a number of strategies and well-studied tactics and plans in cooperation with citizens who are considered the main partner in AND’s security matrix. He also stated that cooperation with government institutions contributes to enhancing the Department’s efforts in fighting illicit drugs and limiting its expansion.  

Additionally, Tarawneh noted that awareness campaigns will continue, extending gratitude to all stakeholders for making these campaigns a success.

AND Director underscored the Department’s main tracks in their fight against drugs in addition to work mechanisms followed at the Department’s affiliate Treatment of Addiction Center, reiterating the importance of citizen awareness regarding the risks associated with publishing incorrect information regarding drug abuse. 

During the session, participants presented a number of suggestions that could contribute to combating this phenomenon. 

At the closing of the session, honoring shields were exchanged in the presence of Mr. Wael Ejeilat, head of ‘Absher Sayedna’ initiative, Mr. Fadi Daoud, Executive Director of TAG-Forum in addition to representatives of youth entities and initiatives.
