Abu-Ghazaleh: Establishing an Arab Accreditation Commission under Arab League’s Umbrella

CAIRO - HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, chairman of the Arab Organization for Quality Assurance in Education (AROQA), has recently announced his intent to establish an Arab Accreditation Commission in cooperation with the UNESCO Regional Center of Quality & Excellence in Education (RCQE) under the umbrella of the League of Arab States. 

Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh’s statement came during AROQA 11th Annual Conference held at the Arab League Headquarters, urging relevant stakeholders to fully study the establishment of the commission.

In addition, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh called for launching a special program in ‘Accreditation for Innovation Standard’ in collaboration with UNESCO-RCQE in accordance with the international standards in the field, as well as updating standards guide and self-evaluation to include standards of innovation. 

Furthermore, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh underlined that AROQA’s quality and accreditation standards ensure the provision of self-study opportunities, improve educational outputs, stimulate innovation and entrepreneurship projects in accordance with the best practices and educational indicators in addition to offering an exceptional educational environment and a high level educational expertise to students as well as improving their professional, academic and behavioral performance in accordance with the international educational requirements. 

It is worth mentioning that the Arab Organization for Quality Assurance in Education (AROQA) is an international non-profit independent association established in Belgium in 2007. Its main objective is to promote the quality of higher education with a particular focus on the Arab world. It works under the umbrella of the League of Arab States. AROQA is chaired by HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, while its Honorary President is the Secretary-General of the Arab League.
