University of Jordan Technical College Introduces Seven Programs Designed for Future Skills

06-Sep-2026

AMMAN - Seven new technical bachelor’s programs at the University of Jordan (UJ) will be offered starting in the 2026/2027 academic year, with students spending a full year in the workplace as part of their studies, according to the University.

The placement year is one of the main features of the college’s academic model. UJ will work with companies and institutions to place students in settings related to their specialization, where they will take on regular duties and gain direct experience of workplace expectations.

Depending on the placement, students may work alongside employees on day-to-day assignments, deal with clients or customers where required, and follow the procedures of the host organization. Students gain workplace experience before graduation, rather than entering a professional setting for the first time after completing their degree.

The two business programs are Digital Marketing and E-Commerce and Sustainable Supply Chain and Logistics.

Sustainable Supply Chain and Logistics covers the movement of goods from purchasing and procurement through storage, inventory, transportation and distribution. It also examines how technology can improve efficiency, reduce waste and support more sustainable operations as e-commerce and distribution networks continue to grow in Jordan and the region.

Digital Marketing and E-Commerce covers how businesses reach customers and sell online. Consumer behavior, digital campaigns, e-commerce operations and the measurement of campaign performance are among the areas covered.

On the engineering side, Renewable Energy Engineering and Green Technologies deals with renewable energy applications, particularly solar power, as well as energy efficiency and green technologies. Students are prepared for work associated with the design, operation and maintenance of energy projects.

Smart Systems Engineering covers automation, sensors, the Internet of Things and connected systems. Its applications extend across manufacturing, transportation, energy, services and smart buildings.

The college’s information technology offerings include Data Analytics and Business Intelligence and Digital Game Development.

Data Analytics and Business Intelligence focuses on the use of data in organizational decision-making. Students learn to organize and analyze information, extract indicators and use the results to help organizations assess performance. The field is relevant to banking, telecommunications, e-commerce, technology and services.

Digital Game Development combines programming, design and interactive content. The same skills can also be used in education, training and simulation.

Hospitality Management and Customer Service is aimed at tourism, hotels, restaurants and other service businesses. Its coursework includes hospitality operations, customer relations and handling problems that arise in day-to-day service work.

Students can also earn micro-credentials in specific areas during their studies and include them in a professional portfolio alongside their academic work and experience gained during the placement year.

Through UJ’s partnership with Pearson, students who complete their second year can obtain a Pearson technical qualification while continuing their studies at the university, with the option of progressing toward a technical bachelor’s degree.

The college also reflects His Majesty King Abdullah II’s emphasis on strengthening technical and applied education and equipping young people with skills that translate more directly into employment.

UJ’s relationship with Pearson predates the new Technical College programs. The university and Pearson Education Limited signed a memorandum of understanding on February 27, 2024, covering cooperation on Pearson qualifications and possible progression routes between those qualifications and UJ degree programs.
